About the role
The Employment Specialist is solely responsible for the full life cycle recruiting functions for First Command Financial Services, Inc. and First Command Bank. This role champions the talent acquisition process to ensure a steady flow of high-quality candidates, supporting the First Command mission and business goals by hiring the best possible talent.
Responsibilities
- Manage the internal and external recruiting process, collaborating with SLT, ELT, and Hiring Managers to identify and attract talent, assess staffing needs, formulate search strategies, and coordinate job postings.
- Proactively source, network, and market open job opportunities to build a pipeline of qualified candidates using LinkedIn, social media, ATS systems, networking events, job fairs, and employee referrals.
- Engage with College/University recruiting teams to source for current and future talent needs and coordinate professional job fairs onsite or within the community.
- Design and implement sourcing strategies that support the employment brand and drive high-volume, targeted, and diverse candidate pipelines.
- Manage recruiting agency and contractor relationships, ensuring alignment with First Command’s needs and employment brand, including contractor tracking and onboarding.
- Adjust recruitment directions and priorities proactively based on changing business needs.
- Ensure a positive candidate experience and strong employment branding through regular communication with Hiring Managers.
- Counsel candidates on First Command benefits, salary, and culture.
- Conduct credit and criminal background checks on contractors and candidates, managing information flow with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Maintain recruiting data, reporting metrics, and ATS integrity, including statistics for FCB’s AAP and other employment/retention metrics.
- Train and lead others as a talent acquisition subject matter expert.
- Evaluate and improve recruitment processes for effectiveness and efficiency from application to hire.
- Develop and conduct training programs for managers to improve recruiting efficiencies.
- Coordinate and conduct New Hire Onboarding/Orientation, including the New Employee Immersion program.
- Stay current with employment laws, hiring trends, and HR-related issues through continued education, seminars, and relevant materials.
- Maintain membership and active participation in a Human Resources or Employment-related professional organization.
- Partner with the Field Recruiting team to share best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (equivalent years of experience may be considered).
- 2+ years of full life cycle recruiting experience, specifically managing a high requisition workload.
- Proficiency with talent acquisition systems and social media tools, including LinkedIn Recruiter and job boards.
- Ability to develop Boolean searches to optimize candidate searches.
- Proven leadership skills and demonstrated results in passive recruitment and sourcing.
- Strong knowledge of Federal and State employment laws, EEO, and OFCCP practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with local labor market trends.

Qualifications (Preferred)
- PHR or SPHR certification.
- AIRS certifications.
