About the role
The Business Services Representative (BSR) is the primary point of contact and the local subject matter expert for businesses within their assigned Workforce Delivery Area (WDA). The BSR markets and promotes the services of the MassHire North Shore Career Center and MassBizWorks to employers and other interested parties, develops and implements promotional programs, conducts business assessments, gathers and disseminates labor market information, and provides technical assistance on recruitment. The BSR cultivates lasting and strong relationships with employers in the MassHire North Shore service area.
Responsibilities
- Represent the values of MassHire North Shore Career Center and EOLWD: Collaboration, Respect, Reliability, and Ingenuity.
- Market and promote Career Center services and programs to area employers through on-site visits, presentations, and outreach.
- Determine business needs, connect business customers with state resources, and solicit employment opportunity listings (Job Orders) that meet established guidelines.
- Market Business Services and MassBizWorks to employers, including grant applications, tax incentives, and other state and federal services.
- Work with local businesses to develop Apprenticeship and On-the-Job training opportunities.
- Create, develop, and facilitate presentations for employers, community organizations, and job seekers to promote career center services and coordinate focus groups.
- Utilize online tools (Burning Glass/Labor Insight, O*Net, MassCIS) to research local labor market information and trends and present findings to employers and career center staff.
- Collaborate with career center staff to promote services using various platforms (flyers, social media, etc.).
- Provide technical assistance and act as a problem-solving liaison for employers with unfilled employment opportunities, suggesting solutions such as restructuring job requirements or virtual recruitment.
- Ensure career center staff is aware of employer needs and job order specifications to facilitate prompt and effective servicing of job orders.
- Work collaboratively with employment counselors and recruiter colleagues.
- Plan, organize, and conduct job fairs, recruitments, and Employer Informational Sessions for employers and job seekers.
- Establish and maintain a data bank of information on local employers through on-site visits, record and update information in the MOSES database, and advocate for the placement of Career Center customers.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, and career center partners.
- Actively participate in career center teams to improve the quality of services to employers and job seekers.
- Contribute suggestions and ideas that create and promote a positive work culture.
- Perform other duties necessary to support customer service and ensure the smooth daily operation of the Center.
- Participate in staff development and cross-training opportunities.
Requirements
- At least three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional or paraprofessional experience in business, marketing, recruitment, employment or educational counseling, or a related field.
- OR any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
- Substitution: An Associate’s degree or higher in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
- Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver’s license at a class level specific to assignment.
