Position Overview

Brief Description: Under general supervision, provide support to individuals seeking to obtain and maintain paid competitive jobs in the community.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work as a community liaison to establish and maintain contacts with the business community to place individuals with developmental disabilities into competitive employment.
  • Develop required reports and employment profiles.
  • Facilitate full inclusion of individuals with disabilities into volunteer and employment activities using person-centered approaches.
  • Provide activities to increase social skills, provide work experiences, foster choices, expand personal networks, and build community relationships.
  • Train individuals to perform assigned work to the best of their ability. Familiarize individuals with their new work environment.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adhere to organization policies and procedures.
  • Timely and accurate documentation as required by Quality and Fiscal Standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Educational and Experience Requirements: Bachelors’ degree in psychology, behavioral science or related field from an accredited educational institution. Must meet QIDP criteria. Minimum one years experience and OPWDD experience.
  • Qualifications and Knowledge: Must have the ability to provide strong advocacy, problem-solving and negotiating skills, and the ability to foster positive relationships. Must maintain training as required by OPWDD. The ability to show initiative, motivation, creativity and ability to understand many areas of OPWDD requirements. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology. Excellent communication and language skills with the ability to take on roles and responsibilities on a pro-active basis. Must be confident with organizational ability and possess the capacity to multi-task. Proficient with Internet Explorer; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Word; and Windows Operating System.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Fingering is required regularly for typing and the use of hands in a repetitive motion. Regularly required to talk and hear with the ability to exchange and receive detailed information. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screens. Working conditions of this position do not substantially expose workers to adverse environmental conditions and are typical of an indoor work environment.
