Employment Defense Attorney

About the role

We're partnering with a well-established California law firm to find an Employment Defense Attorney ready to take on meaningful, high-impact work. This role is ideal for an attorney with 4+ years of employment defense experience who wants to join a team that values great advocacy and great people.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied caseload of employment defense matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, and more
• Handling all phases of litigation — pleadings, discovery, trial, and appeal when needed
• Advising clients directly and keeping them informed every step of the way
• Drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery responses backed by sharp legal research
• Appearing at hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
• Leading settlement negotiations and ADR to get clients the best possible outcomes
• Teaming up with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to keep cases moving smoothly

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school
• Active California State Bar membership
• 4+ years of employment defense litigation experience
• Solid grasp of California state and federal court procedures
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Independent, detail-oriented, and a true team player

Preferred qualifications

• Class action or complex litigation experience
• Trial experience
• A knack for building lasting client relationships

Pay

$150,000–$250,000 base, depending on experience.
