Job Summary
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking an individual to assist MFIP program participants with severe employment barriers in gaining self-sufficiency and employment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an active case load and develop employer relationships for placements
- Assist MFIP program participants in moving into the workforce and achieving self-sufficiency
- Work with diverse populations in an employment counseling or rehabilitation setting (preferred)
- Use intermediate computer skills including internet, email, Microsoft Office, and learn program specific software/database applications
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; possess strong interpersonal relations skills
- Multi-task and balance competing priorities; maintain attention to detail and organizational skills
- Work with clients experiencing stress, frustration, or difficulties; maintain a friendly and firm disposition
- Understand and apply concepts of boundaries, confidentiality, and empowerment in social work
- Have reliable transportation and knowledge of community resources
- Solve problems and build bridges between clients, employers, employees, etc.
- Assess participant needs and make recommendations for service; think analytically and creatively
- Work in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions; relate effectively to people from various backgrounds
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; significant professional experience may substitute for formal education at the discretion of the hiring manager
- Intermediate computer skills including internet, email, Microsoft Office, and ability to learn program specific software/database applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective interpersonal relation skills
- Detail-oriented; able to recall significant amounts of information and document it
- Ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities; maintain attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of community resources; sensitivity towards issues affecting employment
- Reliable transportation
