About the role
The Employment Coach role involves supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in finding and maintaining competitive integrated jobs in the Orange County area. Positions are available in Costa Mesa.
Responsibilities
- Support job development, including resume building and practice interviews.
- Maintain employment and productivity.
- Discover and pursue employment goals.
- Create a meaningful daily schedule with the person’s circle of support.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the person served, co-workers, roommates, and neighbors.
- Implement a normalized community integrated employment-focused service.
- Find and develop competitive employment placements.
- Encourage meaningful employment-related activities.
- Conduct frequent job site analysis.
- Implement adaptation strategies and devices based on individual needs.
- Provide healthcare needs as needed.
- Implement individual service plan goals and SMART objectives.
- Monitor and implement positive behavior strategies.
- Complete required documents and attend staff development training.
- Communicate updates to supervisor, circle of support, and stakeholders.
- Dress professionally and demonstrate proper emergency strategies.
- Contact and report emergencies to the Support Manager.
- Collaborate with the person served, supported, Lead Employment Coach, Support Manager, and circle of support.
- Contact prospective employers and facilitate job applications.
- Shadow and train other coaches with a specific individual you support.
Qualifications
- Two years of college or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
- Experience supporting people with disabilities, preferably in community integrated settings, is preferred but not required.
- Strong organization, communication, and writing skills.
- Proficient in computer and online platforms.
- Positive behavior support training experience preferred.
- Commitment to full inclusion of all persons with disabilities.
- Commitment to integrated employment for all persons with disabilities.
- Commitment to self-advocacy and person-centered planning.
- Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
Skills
- Job development and on-the-job support experience.
