Employment Attorney
Position Overview
West Coast Trial Lawyers is seeking an experienced Employment Attorney to join our growing Employment Law Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background handling employment litigation matters from inception through resolution, including wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other employment-related claims.
Key Responsibilities
Leading and managing complex employment litigation cases from inception through resolution
Conducting and defending depositions, including those of expert witnesses
Making regular court appearances, including hearings and conferences
Preparing for and handling trials and arbitrations with minimal supervision
Overseeing and contributing to law and motion practice
Mentoring junior attorneys and legal support staff
Developing case strategy in collaboration with partners
Performing high-level legal research and writing
Drafting, reviewing, and finalizing pleadings, discovery, and correspondence
Communicating effectively with clients, co-counsel, and opposing counsel
Participating in case reviews and firm development initiatives
Requirements
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar
Minimum of 5 years of employment litigation experience
Demonstrated experience handling employment matters through trial, arbitration, mediation, and settlement
Strong knowledge of California Employment Law, wage and hour regulations, and California Code of Civil Procedure
Proven ability to independently manage a full caseload from inception through resolution
Exceptional legal research, analytical, writing, and advocacy skills
Experience conducting depositions, drafting and arguing motions, and managing discovery
Experience communicating effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court
Experience mentoring junior attorneys, paralegals, or support staff preferred
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and strong time-management skills
Professional, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced litigation environment
Compensation
$150,000 - $200,000 base salary, plus commission and bonus
