Employee Relations Specialist

Maximus is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to support the centralized Employee Relations team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage moderately complex workplace investigations, partnering with internal stakeholders including HR Business Partners, Legal, and HR Compliance, and drafting comprehensive investigative reports.
• Provide guidance and recommendations to people managers on performance management, involuntary terminations, conflict resolution, policy and procedure interpretation; escalate complex matters to senior ER Partner or ER leadership.
• Monitor ER entry point for manager and employee guidance requests via people services portal; escalate complex matters to the Sr. ER Partner queue.
• Apply working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., EEO, ADA, FMLA) to recommend appropriate courses of action for resolving conflicts and issues consistently across the organization.
• Create and monitor aftercare plans through completion.
• Assist with various projects and programs within the ER division.
• Assess risk with sound ethical judgment, escalating, managing, and reporting issues timely and appropriately.
• Evaluate facts, deliver findings, and provide recommendations on sensitive cases through clear communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of HR-related experience.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of human capital practices, techniques, and standards.
• Strong judgment, organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel; experience with case management systems preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail in documentation, process execution, and follow-up.
• Ability to partner with HR colleagues, Legal, and other stakeholder groups to implement solutions and achieve business results.

Pay

Annual salary range: $62,000 – $83,000. Compensation is based on job location, education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel, external market analysis, and internal pay alignment.
