This role will be responsible for managing and maintaining positive and harmonious relationships throughout the organization. The HR Employee Relations Specialist addresses and resolves workplace issues, promotes a positive work environment, and ensures compliance with labor laws and regulations. The specialist works closely with management and employees to provide guidance on employee-related matters and contributes to the development and maintenance of a healthy organizational culture.
Pay
Starting Rate: Minimum: $32.74/hr. - Midpoint: $43.07/hr.
Responsibilities
- Handle employee grievances and conduct workplace investigations:
- Listen to employees’ concerns and complaints and gather evidence to determine their validity.
- Investigate misconduct, policy violations, or harassment incidents, interview witnesses to gather evidence, report findings, and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions or corrective measures.
- Mediate disputes by arranging meetings among involved parties to identify causes of conflicts and resolve them via a fair mediation process.
- Monitor trends in employee behavior and attitudes to predict potential issues.
- Help managers decide on appropriate disciplinary actions for employee misconduct or performance issues and document the process.
- Advise management on labor laws and company policies:
- Stay updated on changes in labor legislation and feedback on company policies, then communicate this information to management.
- Collaborate with legal counsel when necessary to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws:
- Audit and review grievance procedures and employee relations strategy to ensure adherence to relevant labor laws.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement employee relations programs:
- Collaborate on creating programs to engage employees, improve morale, and enhance workplace culture.
- Keep records of employee relations cases (along with their investigations and disciplinary actions) and ensure employee confidentiality.
- Align employee relations processes with company policies to avoid confusion and ensure employees are treated fairly across the organization.
- Promote employee engagement and retention:
- Engage in open, proactive communication and support, encourage honest feedback from staff, address their concerns promptly, and reward top performers.
- Collaborate with management to conduct employee surveys and gather feedback.
- Assist in performance management processes, including counseling, performance improvement plans, and terminations.
- Prepare reports on employee relations, metrics, and trends for management review.
- Facilitate training on conflict resolution and labor laws:
- Coordinate with the Learning and Development team to conduct training for both employees and managers, ensuring they have the resources to drive positive employee relations.
- Develop training materials related to conflict resolution and employee relations.
- Deliver training sessions on employee relations topics to promote a positive work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum: A bachelor’s degree (preferably in human resources, business, public administration, or related field).
- At least three years of progressively responsible experience with employee relations; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
