Employee Relations Specialist

Job Summary

The Employee Relations Specialist fosters a positive workplace by managing conflict, investigating grievances and complaints, and ensuring compliance with labor laws. They act as a liaison between caregivers and HR Business Partners in order to strengthen engagement, morale, and retention.

Key Duties

  • Supporting the initial intake of caregiver complaints
  • Enforcing HR policies

Essential Functions

  • Review disputes, mediate conflicts, and conduct investigations into workplace complaints and policy violations
  • Act as liaison between caregivers and leadership, investigating and assisting in the resolution of work-related conflicts
  • Provide direction to employees for matters clearly spelled out in established policies and practices
  • Guide, review and approve coaching statements and disciplinary actions, to ensure consistency
  • Create and maintain disciplinary action templates for use by leaders
  • Edit disciplinary actions before approval and issuance to caregivers to ensure documents are grammatically correct and formatted appropriately
  • Serve as an initial contact for caregivers seeking support and guidance on workplace matters
  • Support and maintain appropriate documents and related suspensions and disciplinary action for HR compliance related matters including but not limited to required licensure and certifications, annual influenza, annual compliance training, and other requirements of employment
  • Works with Employee Health and department leadership on return to work issues (“RTW”) taking into account an employee’s work related restrictions and essential job functions
  • Works closely with the HR Business Partners (HRBP) and communicates updates, trends, and need-to-know information to the HRBP for continuity of business
  • Participate and support annual leadership development training needs in conjunction with Education and Professional Development
  • Act as a resource for HR Advisors for the escalation of employee relations matters

Required Additional Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered to satisfy this requirement

Work Requirements

  • Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
