About the role

As a key member of the service team, the Employee Benefit Specialist assists in servicing a book of business. This position is involved in proactive client management, including preparation of client presentations, managing data collection for renewals and the RFP process, leading vendor implementations, developing open enrollment communications, and resolving elevated claim issues. This role serves as an important point of contact for the day-to-day servicing of clients and is expected to respond to and resolve client requests on a wide variety of benefit topics with limited assistance. Additionally, this role manages internal processes and procedures related to client record retention.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with clients and the consulting team to provide excellent day-to-day service.
  • Maintain Image Right; audit annually to ensure accurate, up-to-date information is filed appropriately.
  • Create and maintain the client calendar on an annual basis for each client in the book of business.
  • Create and maintain the annual “client renewal letter” for each client in the book of business.
  • Ensure fee agreements and/or disclosures are released on a timely basis and maintain records in Image Right.
  • Update Benefit Point when changes are made, including rates, plan designs, vendors, commissions, and contacts.
  • Answer or seek assistance to answer client questions on benefit topics such as coverage clarification, plan structure, rates, claims and billing, and compliance.
  • Review Summaries of Benefits Coverage (SBC), Summary Plan Documents (SPD), and other benefit plan materials for accuracy for all lines of coverage.
  • Manage interactions with carriers to ensure timely receipt of required data.
  • Work with internal service teams (wellness, communications, compliance, and member advocacy) on tactical deliverables.
  • Assist with the preparation of client work products, including gathering and comparing benchmarking data, collecting data for RFPs, tracking RFP responses, acting on awarded RFPs, updating and peer-reviewing client presentations, and collecting Schedules required for 5500 filings.
  • Attend client meetings as appropriate.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and carrier programs as suggested by management.
  • Perform other tasks, duties, and functions related to routine client management.
  • Work independently on special projects related to client-facing or departmental initiatives.

Requirements

  • College degree required; major or minor in Risk Management or HR strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Health and Benefits.
  • Life and Health License preferred.
  • Exceptional organization and client service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with all levels of an organization and adapt communication approaches to specific clients, consultants, vendors, carriers, or other business partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without company sponsorship.

Pay

Salary for this position ranges from $62,000.00 to $75,000.00. The base pay offered will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
