About the Role
A Financial Analyst (FA) assists the Financial Consultants (FC) in the day-to-day needs of the business. Typical functions include gathering and auditing monthly financial data, completing initial technical sections of financial deliverables, and justifying analytical work regarding projections and other estimates. The FA coordinates and manages Stop Loss RFPs with the internal stop-loss marketing team and prepares spreadsheets to display fees, premiums, total cost, and claims experience for client presentations. The primary role is to meet the financial needs of clients in a supportive capacity, ensuring the FC can participate in client meetings and financial strategy sessions.
Responsibilities
- Completes initial level of standard financial deliverables
- Assists in drafting technical sections of reports and presentation materials
- Supports client needs in a team environment
- Demonstrates attention to detail and follow-through for client satisfaction
- Acts with appropriate urgency and comprehension of subject matter
- Takes thorough notes and asks probing questions
- Meets client team expectations for performance and output
- Manages and obtains client financial data
- Consistently meets deadlines
- Proactively communicates with the team to adhere to timelines and prepare for meetings
- Participates in updating tools and templates as projects arise
- Understands basic EB compliance requirements
- Assists with resolving client or vendor data and financial issues
- Gains understanding of strategic planning processes and client service cycles
Requirements
- 1-5 years of insurance experience
- Life & Health License or successfully completes licensing within the first three months of employment
- Superior customer service and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with computer systems, Excel, and Microsoft Office
- Self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
Qualifications
- College degree, preferably in Finance or Math
- Working knowledge of employee benefit plans, including HMOs, PPOs, HSAs, indemnity plans, and ancillary coverage such as life, disability, dental, and voluntary insurances (preferred)
