About the role

The Account Executive serves as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients, managing day-to-day relationships while developing and executing tailored employee benefits strategies. In this client-facing role, the Account Executive partners closely with carrier representatives to research, analyze, and evaluate medical, life, disability, and ancillary benefit plans, translating complex information into clear, strategic guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a book of business exceeding $1M in revenue
  • Lead client relationships, providing indirect leadership to the account team by delegating work, reviewing deliverables for accuracy, and ensuring service excellence
  • Act as the benefits subject-matter expert, ensuring clients receive thoughtful, compliant solutions aligned with their business objectives

  • Lead RFPs, renewals, and open enrollment processes, including carrier negotiations and client recommendations
  • Proactively advise clients on industry trends, regulatory updates, and strategic solutions to address evolving needs
  • Apply underwriting fundamentals to explain funding options, rate impacts, and cost drivers
  • Project manage the book of business, ensuring timely deliverables, accurate system updates (e.g., BenefitPoint, AMS), and full regulatory compliance
  • Review work product, provide feedback, and mentor junior team members while leveraging internal tools and resources to maximize efficiency

Requirements

  • BA/BS preferred
  • Life, Accident and Health Insurance License required
  • 5+ years of health & welfare experience, meeting or exceeding core practice competency-based skills
  • Client-facing experience in the employee benefit industry
  • Technical knowledge of benefits administration, HealthCare Reform, industry trends, carrier products and services

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of employer-sponsored health and welfare plans
  • Strong understanding of the federal and state regulations that govern them
