Empire Innovation Professor, Artificial Intelligence
About the role
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University at Buffalo (UB) invites candidates to apply for the position of Associate Professor or Full Professor to be known as Professor of Empire Innovation. Selected candidates will receive support through the SUNY Empire Innovation Program (EIP), which recognizes high-caliber faculty with a proven track record of externally funded research.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels
- Mentor graduate students
- Advise students at all levels
- Maintain an active research program
Requirements
- Candidates must hold a doctorate in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field.
- Candidates must demonstrate excellence in research, teaching, service, and mentoring.
- Candidates should be internationally recognized scholars as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, citations and a sustained externally funded research program.
Qualifications
The University at Buffalo (UB) is a flagship of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, a member of the prestigious American Association of Universities, is the largest and most comprehensive university in the SUNY system, with about 21,000 undergraduates and 11,000 graduate students. The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences has about 8,000 students across 9 academic departments. UB was recently announced as the recipient of $400M in funding for EmpireAI and continues to lead in many areas of AI, and this position is intended for a national leader in AI.
Skills
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, mentor graduate students, advise students at all levels, and maintain an active research program. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate and lead effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.
