Emerging Technologies Officer

About the role

As the Emerging Technologies Officer for Gympie Regional Libraries, you will combine traditional library duties with innovative technology engagement. The role involves managing the Gympie Library Makerspace, a community space designed to provide hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and foster problem-solving and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with borrowing books and providing information (traditional library duties).
• Manage and operate the Gympie Library Makerspace, offering access to technologies like 3D printers, VR, drones, sewing machines, audio/video/photo editing tools, green screens, and robotics.
• Teach community members, including school groups, how to use emerging technologies such as 3D printers, coding, robotics, and drones.
• Deliver First Five Forever Storytime sessions and run STEM-based Tinker Table activities.
• Visit schools and community groups to conduct workshops on coding, robotics, and drones.
• Maintain and troubleshoot library computers, systems, and Makerspace equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Business (Marketing).
• Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education (Business and ICT teaching areas).

Skills

• Experience with 3D printers, VR, drones, robotics, and audio/video/photo editing tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair technology equipment.
• Strong teaching and community engagement skills.
