Emergency Veterinary Technician - Overnight

About the role

VCA Animal Emergency Hospital Southeast Calder Road is seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join a dynamic and accredited emergency and critical care hospital. The position offers a competitive pay range of $21.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Work full-time, including overnights
• Perform emergency procedures such as IV catheter placement, surgery monitoring, triage, managing hospitalized cases
• Communicate effectively with doctors and staff, calculate drug dosages, administer medications
• Maintain high standards of patient care, follow hospital checklists and protocols
• Engage with clients to create a positive, low-stress atmosphere

Requirements

• Experience as a Veterinary Technician required
• Emergency experience preferred
• Able to work weekends and holidays
• Able to lift over 30 pounds without assistance

Qualifications

• Current CVT, RVT, or LVT certification
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure
