Emergency Veterinary Technician

About the role

VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center offers advanced treatments in Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, and Oncology. This full-time position includes 3 x 12-hour shifts, specifically the overnight/3rd shift from 7 pm - 7:30 am.

Responsibilities

• Triage and assist in stabilizing emergency patients
• Provide advanced nursing care in ICU and critical care settings
• Administer medications, CRIs, and fluid therapy
• Perform diagnostics (lab work, imaging, sample collection)
• Auxiliary in advanced procedures (central lines, transfusions, oxygen therapy)
• Communicate with clients during high-stress situations with empathy and clarity
• Collaborate closely with ER doctors, specialists, and support staff

Requirements

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) or eligible to sit for the VTNE
• Ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Passion for high-quality, patient-centered care

Pay

Pay range is negotiable based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and other relevant credentials.
