Emergency Veterinary Technician

MedVet is a fast-growing Emergency and Specialty provider with practices nationwide. We help our patients receive advanced medical treatments and innovations, including chemotherapy and radiation, cardiac ablations, treatments for glaucoma, physical rehabilitation, dermatology, and more.

We are looking for collaborative and driven Emergency Veterinary Technicians to join our clinical team. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, shifting gears quickly and handling critical situations with ease. Every day is different, with no two cases alike.

Schedule

• Proposed: Thursday–Saturday, 10:00 AM–10:00 PM
• May rotate to: Wednesday 12:00 PM–10:00 PM, Thursday 12:00 PM–10:00 PM, Friday 12:00 PM–10:00 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM–8:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as needed
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment
• Partner with the patient care team on treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education, including home care instructions, medication details (indications, adverse reactions), and updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVMs with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Requirements

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours; able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
