Emergency Veterinary Technician
Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) in Scarborough, ME is a VECCS level two certified Rarebreed practice offering a 24/7 emergency hospital with full in-house laboratory capabilities, fluoroscopy suite, helical 16-slice CT, MRI, respiratory ventilator, telemetric monitoring, ultrasound, and endoscopy. The hospital is staffed with specialists in Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Rehab, Acupuncture, and a dedicated emergency and critical care team.
About the role
We are hiring compassionate and skilled Emergency Veterinary Technicians for both day and night shifts, including weekends and holidays. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and other staff members in a variety of clinical and emergency situations.
- Delegate tasks efficiently and assist in daily housekeeping, including cleaning cages and completing task lists to hospital standards.
- Provide discharge instructions and client education regarding services provided.
- Deliver compassionate and quality care to clients and patients while maintaining positive working relationships with all hospital staff.
- Prepare estimates for recommended services and discuss finances with clients in person or on the phone.
- Demonstrate knowledge of veterinary medicine, terminology, and treatments with strong attention to detail in verbal and written communications.
- Follow all safety, handling, and OSHA compliance standards.
- Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, conducting basic laboratory tests, administering medications, and aiding with medical procedures with accuracy.
- Perform anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery.
- Assist in emergency situations, including controlling bleeding, administering medications or fluids, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Assist in the aftercare process in a respectful manner.

Requirements
- 2 years of experience in an emergency veterinary hospital required.
- Excellent communication and strong clinical skills.
- Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to lift 50 pounds.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Credentialed candidates (LVT, CVT, or RVT) are strongly desired for this role.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $38.00 per hour, with eligibility for an incentive bonus of up to $5,000 based on experience, licensure, and availability.
