About the role
DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital is a nonprofit, mission-driven teaching hospital located in Portland, Oregon. We are seeking an Emergency Veterinarian (DVM/VMD) to join our state-of-the-art emergency and specialty hospital.
Responsibilities
- Perform triage, diagnostics, and medical management for a diverse emergency caseload
- Manage patient flow across the ER and ICU alongside a skilled technician team
- Develop diagnostic and treatment plans and communicate clearly with clients during critical moments
- Collaborate with specialists to provide advanced care and facilitate patient transfers when needed
- Build relationships with referring veterinarians throughout the region
- Contribute to a teaching environment that supports interns, residents, externs, and early-career veterinarians
Requirements
- DVM/VMD (or equivalent) from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school or ECFVG certification
- Ability to obtain Oregon veterinary licensure
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in emergency medicine
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced critical care environment

Pay
Compensation is based on the ProSal model, with an average annual earning of approximately $215,000, including a $140,000 base salary.
Schedule
The schedule is flexible but includes 24/7 coverage for the emergency department and ICU.
