About the Role

As the Emergency Services Charge Nurse at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, you will serve as a vital clinical leader within our Emergency Services department. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional looking to leverage clinical expertise to mentor staff, manage critical situations, and optimize unit resources to provide life-saving emergency medical care.

You will oversee nursing unit activities, direct patient flow, and ensure the highest standards of quality care are consistently met. Responsibilities include coordinating unit operations to facilitate timely, effective patient outcomes while providing direct clinical support to patients. You will act as a primary resource for your team, mentoring staff on documentation, equipment usage, and the nursing process, and coaching them to refine their clinical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee nursing unit activities and direct patient flow to ensure high-quality care.
  • Evaluate patient care and utilize the Clinical Response Team (CRT) when necessary.
  • Demonstrate exceptional critical thinking during high-pressure, emergent clinical situations.
  • Mentor staff in competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), and participation in in-service education.
  • Provide direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of patients and the department.
  • Ensure the standard of care is maintained and coach staff to improve care.
  • Evaluate care given by staff.

Requirements

  • ADN, Diploma, or foreign equivalent in Nursing.
  • Two (2) years of RN experience within an applicable clinical specialty.
  • Active Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification.
  • American Heart Association PALS certification.

Preferred qualifications include a BSN and prior Charge Nurse experience.

  • Full-time employees can receive up to $18,000 over five years.
  • Part-time employees can receive up to $9,000 over five years.

Pay

$42.85 - $63.77 per hour.
