Emergency Department Charge Nurse

About the role

The RN Charge Nurse provides leadership and clinical expertise in the Emergency Department, coordinating staffing, managing resources, and supporting staff professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Delegate tasks to nursing staff and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
• Promote quality improvement initiatives within the department.
• Mediate conflicts and foster a collaborative work environment.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Clinical experience in an emergency or acute care setting; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS preferred.

• Effective delegation and leadership.
• Excellent collaboration and communication.

Physical demands

• Frequent patient lifting and mobility.
• Prolonged standing, walking, and interaction with staff and patients.

Pay

$42.00 - $62.17 per hour.
