About the role

Performs operational tasks related to the admission of inpatients and outpatients in the Emergency Department of GBMC. Multitasks in a fast-paced atmosphere while maintaining GBMC values for initial customer service contact. Escorts patients as necessary to the ED from the general waiting room and to radiological areas when needed. Replenishes clinical supplies and checks clinical carts as assigned. Participates in promoting efficient flow of the multi-unit environment. Under general supervision of the RN or MD, provides clinical support to unit staff in the care of patients and families.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Graduate from an accredited CNA program and an accredited Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Cardiac Rescue Technician (CRT), or Paramedic program
  • Current and valid CNA license
  • Current and valid Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Cardiac Rescue Technician (CRT), or Paramedic certification
  • Current and valid CPR Certification
  • Minimum one year of hospital or related experience

Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of triage criteria, including all levels of care and complaints treated within urgent vs. emergent care
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff
  • Problem-solving and ability to prioritize needs autonomously in stressful situations
  • Proficiency in using computers
  • Understanding of role expectations and scope of practice
  • Ability to partner with RN/MD staff
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Basic knowledge of pre-hospital care and patient management
  • Basic first-aid skills

Pay

Pay range: $17.64 - $27.48. Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with organizational needs.
