Job Overview
Fairview is seeking a Casual Emergency Room Technician (ERT) for their University of Minnesota Medical Center (East Bank) in Minneapolis, MN.
About the Role
The Emergency Room Technician (ERT) supports the professional nurse in providing patient care, moving patients, assisting with patient needs, and managing supplies.
Responsibilities
- Transports patients using wheelchair and cart
- Ambulates and positions patients as needed
- Notifies RN of patient/family observations and concerns
- Promptly responds to patient call lights/requests
- Demonstrates respect for patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality
- Obtains and transports ordered specimens
- Assists in resuscitation efforts
- Documents patient care activities and procedures accurately and timely
- Maintains and restocks patient rooms and supplies
- Completes room and cart checklists
- Performs quality control checks on equipment
- Reports discrepancies and malfunctions to appropriate personnel
Requirements
- BLS certification
- One of the following certifications:
- Current EMT or ERT certification
- Current Paramedic certification
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the MN Registry
- Enrolled in an LPN, RN, or NP program (with at least 1 completed clinical semester)
- Six months of recent hands-on patient care experience (acute, long-term, or home care)
- Completed Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program
- LPN licensure
Qualifications
- One year of recent hands-on patient care experience (acute, long-term, or home care)
- Completed Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program
- LPN licensure
Skills
- Ability to adapt to patient needs and age groups
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer skills for documentation

Schedule
This position is casual and works a variety of 12-hour day, evening, and night shifts, with occasional weekend work.
