Emergency Room Technician

Job Summary

To support safe, cost-efficient patient care in the Emergency Department, you will perform delegated functions from RNs or Physicians, conduct diagnostics and procedures, assist with patient transport and lifting, and provide general clerical and cleaning support.

Responsibilities

• Supports unit operations and contributes to a safe and efficient environment.
• Assists professional nursing staff and physicians in providing care to patients.
• Performs clerical and receptionist duties, maintains inventory, and assists with specimen management.
• Performs procedures that do not require the skill, knowledge, or judgment of a licensed professional.
• Maintains appropriate stock and equipment inventories, and assists in the admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort through rounds, environmental maintenance, and other safety measures.
• Maintains a professional attitude and supports co-workers and other team members.
• Complies with internal and external regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Participates in unit meetings, inservice programs, and quality improvement activities.
• Assists in the orientation of new staff and fulfills yearly requirements as stated by policy.

Requirements

• BLS or BLS instructor certification required upon hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months to one year experience as a nursing assistant or EMT preferred.
