About the Role

As part of BJC HealthCare, Parkland Health Center offers a unique combination of world-class medicine along with deep local roots and rich history. Parkland Health Center has two locations in St. Francois County, Missouri – a full-service acute care hospital in Farmington and a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre. The Emergency Room provides support to triage, diagnose, and treat patients presenting for emergency services in a timely, customer-focused manner on a 24/7 basis, regardless of ability to pay.

Parkland’s Farmington campus offers a full continuum of inpatient and medical-surgical and intensive care, obstetrics, and emergency services, along with a wide variety of outpatient services including oncology, an infusion center, a wound care clinic, and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Center. Bonne Terre is a Rural Emergency Hospital providing emergency services and outpatient services including medical observation, lab, radiology, and sleep study.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
  • Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
  • Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
  • Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.

BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Nursing Diploma/Associate's in Nursing
  • Experience: No prior experience required
  • Supervisor Experience: Not required
  • Licenses & Certifications: RN (Registered Nurse)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Emergency Department experience preferred

Schedule

  • Full-time, Days: 06:30 to 19:00
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Positions available at the Farmington and Bonne Terre campuses
