Emergency Room Manager
About the role
The Emergency Room Manager provides nursing leadership under the guidance and direction of the Director of Emergency Services and the Chief Nursing Officer. The Manager oversees the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department, ensuring high quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations and staffing of the Emergency Room.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of patient care activities.
- Evaluate and improve the quality of nursing care provided.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care outcomes.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve patient satisfaction and safety.
- Monitor and address staff performance issues, providing coaching and feedback.
- Participate in ongoing education and training initiatives for staff.
- Manage the budget and resource allocation for the department.
- Represent the department in community outreach and educational events.
Requirements
- Graduate of Professional School of Nursing, BSN preferred or actively pursuing with a 2 year completion within date of hire.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
- Required within 90-days: ACLS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale, ENPC or PALS.
- Three years current nursing experience in the designated clinical area required.
- One year management experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of Professional School of Nursing, BSN preferred or actively pursuing with a 2 year completion within date of hire.
- Licenses/Certifications: Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. Required within 90-days: ACLS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale, ENPC or PALS.
- Experience: Three years current nursing experience in the designated clinical area required. One year management experience preferred.
Skills
Effective communication skills, leadership abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams are essential. Proficiency in computer systems and software applications is also required.
