Key Responsibilities
- Respond to refinery emergencies
- Maintain operational readiness of emergency response vehicles, facilities, equipment, and fixed fire protection systems
- Serve as the HSE Field Department owner for the fixed fire water system
- Develop, review, interpret, and maintain Emergency Orders, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Procedures, and other emergency response documentation
- Develop and deliver emergency response training and participate in emergency drills and exercises
- Provide Health and Safety field support
- Maintain a visible field presence
- Escalate safety, compliance, or emergency preparedness concerns
- Perform other emergency response and field safety responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a refinery, petrochemical, or chemical manufacturing facility in Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, or a comparable role
- Minimum three (3) years of industrial emergency response experience
- Meet the physical fitness requirements for industrial firefighting and technical rescue duties
- Current Texas EMT-Basic certification (or higher)
- Current Class B Texas Driver License
- NFPA 1081 Interior and Exterior Firefighter certification (or equivalent)
- NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Technician certification (or equivalent)
- NFPA 1006 Technical Rescue certification (or equivalent)
- Previous experience working within the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, API, and NFPA standards and regulations
- Working knowledge of industrial firefighting apparatus, foam systems, fixed fire protection systems, and emergency response equipment
- Strong hazard recognition, risk assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of the organization
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative in identifying and addressing safety risks
Work Schedule
- Rotating shift schedule
- Overtime, including extended hours, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins, is required as needed to maintain emergency response coverage, support emergency incidents, planned outages, training activities, and other business requirements
