About the role
The selected applicant will be responsible for supporting the site’s emergency response team and fire protection & life safety programs. The Emergency Response Engineer will assist in mitigating incidents, developing and implementing training, and coordinating with external emergency response teams.
Responsibilities
- Supporting and responding to hazardous materials releases and fires to mitigate incidents quickly and efficiently to minimize production downtime as well as assisting in recovery efforts
- Maintaining emergency response equipment and keeping consumable inventory response ready
- Developing and implementing training for the emergency response team (including CPR/AED First Aid, HAZWOPER, etc)
- Developing site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Pre-Plans for both specific materials and locations, to ensure emergency preparedness
- Coordinating with outside emergency response teams and agencies
- Leading the building evacuation team, including recruiting and training team members, maintaining the Occupant Emergency Plan (OEP), and keeping assembly point supplies stocked
- Overseeing CO2 fire suppression system maintenance
- Participating in design reviews for equipment and facility alterations to identify fire protection and life safety risks
- Collecting, maintaining, and presenting Emergency Response Team (ERT) statistics to team and foundry leadership
- Generating, proposing, and maintaining an annual ERT budget
- Conducting periodic building fire safety inspections and supporting Health and Safety compliance inspections
- Coordinating employee engagement activities, such as fire prevention week
Qualifications
- For Level 3: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience; or a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience; or 9 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience may be accepted in lieu of Bachelor's degree
- For Level 4: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience; or a Master’s Degree with 6 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience; or 12 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience may be accepted in lieu of Bachelor's degree
- Ability to undergo annual medical surveillance and acquire medical certification for the use of a self-contained breathing apparatus
- Ability to respond to fire and hazardous materials incidents in a timely manner inclusive of non-working hours
- Local to the site for supporting the site’s emergency response team
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
