Emergency Medicine Elective
Duration: 4 weeks
Rotation Director: Jodi Conrad, MD
- Evaluate and treat patients from diverse backgrounds, of diverse ages, with a broad range of pathologies in a rural emergency setting
- Learn how to multitask and work in an interprofessional team
- Provide care to an underserved population
- Gain valuable emergency medicine skills and knowledge
- Evaluate and treat patients requiring a large number of emergent procedures including but not limited to moderate sedation, intubation, thoracostomy, thoracentesis, fracture and dislocation reductions, paracentesis, and laceration repair
- Become familiar with operation of, provide medical control for, and work alongside of rural EMS (NorthStar)
- Work in a cohesive team of emergency medicine physicians and nurses, providing high quality care
On-site housing is offered at no cost to the learner at the Dixon House, when space is available. If space is not available at the Dixon House, then the resident may request funds from MERGE to reimburse for housing in Farmington, per the MERGE housing policy.
