Teaching and Training

Instruct students seeking clinical experience at Denver Health and provide education for post graduate medical trainees.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver Emergency Care to Patients:
    • Stabilize patients in critical condition.
    • Evaluate patients' vital signs & lab data to determine emergency intervention needs and priority of treatment.
    • Conduct primary patient assessments that include information from prior medical care.
    • Analyze records, examination information, or test results to diagnose medical conditions.
    • Select, request, perform, or interpret diagnostic procedures, e.g., lab tests, electrocardiograms, etc..
    • Select and prescribe medications to address patient needs.
  • Develop a Plan of Care for Patients:
    • Discuss patients' treatment plans with physicians and other medical professionals.
    • Encourage increased patient understanding and involvement in care.
    • Communicate likely outcomes of medical diseases or traumatic conditions to patients or their representatives.
    • Consult with hospitalists and other professionals, such as social workers, regarding patients' hospital admission, continued observation, transition of care, or discharge.
    • Identify factors that may affect patient management, such as age, gender, barriers to communication, and underlying disease.
  • Compliance:
    • Establish and communicate protocols to meet contractual, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Staff Management:
    • Oversee the activities of staff which includes but is not limited to sourcing, hiring, and training new team members, creating and managing schedules, evaluating performance, and providing coaching to engage and motivate team members, identifying and applying career advancement opportunities for team members, and helping to resolve employee issues and disputes, mentorship and guidance.
