About the role
Emergency Medicine position at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, a Level III Trauma Center with approximately 35,000 visits per year. The facility is a full-service hospital offering a 24/7 Hospitalist program, air medical and ambulance services, CT/MRI in the department, bedside ultrasound, and point‑of‑use supplies in every room. Physician coverage averages 42 hours per day. The center provides tertiary services including trauma surgery, neurosurgery, cardiology, GI, ENT, pediatric hospitalists, OB/GYN, pulmonary/critical care, neurology, infectious disease, orthopedic surgery, vascular surgery, anesthesia, radiology, and more, with less than 1% of patients transferred out. MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is part of a regional health system serving 14 counties, with 7 critical access hospitals and 42 clinics across northern Iowa. The role includes a teaching component with residents, medical students, and PA/ARNP trainees.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency medicine care at a high‑volume Level III Trauma Center.
- Participate in teaching and supervision of residents, medical students, and PA/ARNP students.
- Work collaboratively with a broad range of specialist services to keep patients in‑house.
Qualifications
- Board Certified/Board Eligible; must achieve board certification within 3 years of eligibility.
- Completion of an Emergency Medicine residency or fellowship required.
- Graduate of an allopathic or osteopathic medical school.
- Hold or be eligible for an Iowa physician license, Iowa Controlled Substance Certificate, and Federal DEA registration.
