Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
This position is based in Sullivan County, NY with Mobilemedic EMS, providing both emergency and non-emergency transport of patients. Paramedics collaborate with supervisors, municipal and county fire/police departments, medical staff, patients, and family members to deliver high-level patient care and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality patient care using Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals (PEEP), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Assess and treat medical or trauma situations while maintaining high standards of patient care and professionalism.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within established treatment protocols and standards of care.
- Provide accurate written documentation of all patient care and EMS responses.
- Complete all required Empress and NYS paperwork.
- Maintain patient care equipment, vehicles, supplies, daily logs, and patient care records.
- Operate Empress vehicles and equipment according to company policy.
- Maintain a safe and orderly work environment, promoting safe work practices.
- Report to work on time; shifts may exceed assigned hours due to the nature of EMS, with mandatory overtime possible.
- Work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and any available shift as required.
- Follow all Empress policies and procedures.
- Attend mandatory continuing medical education, updates, and staff meetings.
- Comply with uniform dress and standard equipment regulations.
- Assist in public information and educational programs promoting EMT-Paramedics and Empress services.
Requirements
- Current New York State EMT-P Certification.
- Current AHA certifications: CPR, PALS, ACLS.
- Valid Driver’s License with a driving record meeting company requirements.
- Successful completion of pre-employment process, including drug screening, background check, and physical agility test (CPAT).
- At least 19 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- National Registry Certification as a Paramedic.
- Westchester REMAC Certification.
- Hudson Valley REMAC Certification.
- NYC REMAC Certification (if working in the Montefiore Division).
Work Environment
Works both outdoors and indoors with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions, blood/body fluids, fumes/odors, and temperature changes. Requires respirator use, extended shifts, and frequent face-to-face contact with others. Exposure to noise, mechanical, and electrical equipment. Performs duties in mobile environments and confined areas.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must lift and/or carry up to 150 pounds unassisted and up to 300 pounds as part of a two-person crew.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Pay
Hourly wage of $33.50.
Schedule
Hiring for part-time, full-time, night shifts, and weekends. Work schedules encompass a variety of shifts, and overtime may be required.
