What You'll Be Doing:
- Develop and execute lesson plans that lead toward student achievement of competencies in the area of expertise.
- Develop and update, as needed, the curriculum for the content program.
- Prepare orders for the purchase of supplies, tools, equipment, and instructional materials necessary to support the learning activities of the program.
- Maintain inventory and repair records, and ensure the safe and proper operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Maintain an Advisory Board and keep records of meeting notices, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes.
- Remain informed of new trends, methods, materials, tools, and equipment in content area.
- Participate in all professional development activities as required by Kansas City Public Schools.
- Integrate Career & Technical Student Organization (C.T.S.O.) leadership activities into the area of content.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned by the building leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and four thousand (4000) hours of department-approved, closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years or
- Sixty Credit Hours or Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and five thousand (5000) hours of department-approved closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years;
- Valid certificates completed as applicable (CPR; culinary, business, safety, etc)
- Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Substitute certification
- Previous experience as a classroom teacher
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in an urban setting
- Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Career Education Certification in the content area
Physical Demands:
- Sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers.
- Bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds.
