Emergency Medical Technician - Full-Time

Role Overview

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides immediate medical care and safe transportation of patients during emergencies, ensuring stabilization and coordination with other emergency personnel.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, assess patient conditions, and administer appropriate interventions.
• Transport patients safely while monitoring and providing necessary care en route.
• Perform life-saving procedures such as CPR, bleeding control, airway management, and utilize medical equipment like defibrillators and oxygen systems.
• Collaborate with paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, and hospital staff for coordinated patient care.
• Maintain detailed patient care reports and ensure emergency vehicle and equipment readiness.
• Interpret medical instructions and handle patient lifting/movement in challenging environments.
• Participate in ongoing education to stay current with protocols and skills.

Qualifications & Skills

• Valid NYS Basic EMT certification and a valid driver's license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; AHA BLS preferred or required within 3 months if not held.
• Ability to exert physical effort, lift/move patients up to 250 lbs, and work in hazardous, uncontrolled environments.
• Strong communication, professionalism, and composure in high-pressure situations.

Preferred Skills

• Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or similar, and knowledge of emergency care procedures.
