Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Per Diem

About the role

An Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) provides immediate basic and advanced medical care, transports patients safely, and stabilizes them during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, assess patient conditions, and determine appropriate interventions.
• Transport patients to medical facilities, monitoring and providing care en route.
• Administer life-saving procedures such as CPR, airway management, and bleeding control within NYS Scope of Practice.
• Operate essential medical equipment like defibrillators and oxygen systems.
• Collaborate with emergency personnel and hospital staff for coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate patient care reports and ensure vehicle and equipment readiness.
• Interpret medical instructions, lift and move patients in challenging environments, and participate in ongoing training.

Requirements

• NYS AEMT certification and BLS required (AHA BLS within 3 months if not initially provided).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to perform heavy physical work, including lifting and moving patients.

Preferred Qualifications

• EVOC or equivalent training.
• Strong knowledge of emergency procedures.

Work in various environments, including outdoor and hazardous settings, requiring physical strength, stamina, and professionalism under stress.
