Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Per Diem

About the role

An Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) provides immediate basic and advanced medical care and transports patients during emergencies, ensuring stabilization and safe transfer to medical facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, assess patient conditions, and determine appropriate interventions.
• Transport patients safely while monitoring and providing necessary care en route.
• Administer life-saving procedures such as CPR, bleeding control, airway management, using essential medical equipment.
• Collaborate with emergency personnel and hospital staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient care documentation and ensure emergency vehicle and equipment readiness.
• Interpret medical instructions, assist with patient lifting/movement, often in challenging environments.
• Participate in ongoing education to stay current with protocols and skills.

Qualifications & Skills

• Valid NYS AEMT certification and BLS certification (AHA or equivalent).
• Valid driver's license.
• Physical ability to exert force and assist in lifting patients and equipment.
• Ability to work calmly and professionally in high-pressure situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or similar, and strong knowledge of emergency care procedures.
