Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Full Time Days

Responsibilities

  • Responding to emergencies, administering medications, and coordinating with other staff to ensure inmate health and safety.
  • Aid in patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history.
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight, drawing blood.
  • Documenting medical history including medications, treatment and medical conditions.
  • Maintaining medical equipment and supplies within the facility.
  • Completing intake screenings.
  • Administering and reading PPD tests.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff during medical procedures and transport.
  • Observing and reporting changes in patients' physical or mental health to nurses.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
  • Ability to obtain the necessary state licenses for EMT.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Active BLS Certification (American Heart Association required).
  • Criminal background check must be passed.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Display integrity, professionalism, and adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Physical Capabilities

  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods.
  • Lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds).
  • Bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
