About the role
The Lebanon Township Fire Department is seeking qualified and motivated individuals to serve as Part-Time Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). This position is responsible for providing high-quality prehospital emergency medical care and assisting with emergency response operations throughout Lebanon Township and surrounding mutual aid areas.
What you'll do
- Respond to emergency medical calls and provide patient assessment, treatment, and transportation in accordance with New Jersey EMT standards and department protocols.
- Operate and assist in the staffing of department ambulances and EMS equipment.
- Complete accurate and timely patient care reports and related documentation.
- Conduct daily ambulance and equipment inspections to ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain EMS supplies, medications, and equipment inventories.
- Auxiliary with fire department operations as assigned and appropriate to certification level.
- Participate in training, continuing education, drills, and department meetings.
- Provide professional and compassionate care to patients and their families.
- Work collaboratively with hospital staff, neighboring EMS agencies, fire departments, and law enforcement personnel.
- Represent the department in a professional manner during community events and public education activities.
Qualifications
- Current New Jersey EMT certification required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Valid New Jersey driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully pass a background investigation and pre-employment screening.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced emergency environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move patients and equipment in accordance with EMS job requirements.
- Knowledge of emergency medical care, patient assessment, and documentation procedures.
- Prior EMS experience preferred but not required.
- Firefighter certifications, EVOC, ICS certifications, and additional EMS credentials are considered a plus.
