About the Role
The EMT PRN performs various technical duties and tasks, including assisting with direct and indirect treatment and care of patients.
Responsibilities
- Performs EKGs, venipuncture (not applicable to the Emergency Department), IV skills, and bedside testing.
- Provides emergency first aid treatment and responds to medical emergencies.
- Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.
- Transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
- Notifies nurse of abnormal findings or changes in patient status.
- Performs clerical functions and accesses/navigates through Epic.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of the Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B TX) or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P) curriculum as defined by the State of Texas.
- State Registration as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B TX) or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P).
- Current JPS-recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, maintained throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience.
- Current JPS-recognized Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Level 1 EKG Competency (subsequent to hire).
Pay
Hourly compensation.
Schedule
PRN (as needed), 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, day shift.
