About the role

This position coordinates statewide activities of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) education, including program development, monitoring, training, and public relations. Responsibilities also include implementing, administering, and promoting various programs such as Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic initial training programs, continuing education for each certification level, protocol updates, and other programs across the state.

Responsibilities

- Coordinates statewide EMS education activities. - Develops and monitors EMS education programs for content and quality. - Trains and provides public relations for EMS education. - Implements, administers, and promotes various EMS educational programs. - Provides technical assistance to EMS agencies and districts. - Supervises and evaluates EMS instructors/coordinators.

Requirements

- Master's degree in education, public policy, emergency services, or closely related field with two (2) years or more of experience with EMS, including one (1) year or more involving training responsibilities. - OR Bachelor's degree in education, public policy, emergency services, or closely related field with four (4) years or more of experience with EMS, including one (1) year or more involving training responsibilities. - OR Six (6) years or more of experience with EMS, including one (1) year or more involving training responsibilities.

Qualifications

- Experience with EMS including training responsibilities. - National Registered Paramedic or other licensed healthcare professional with significant pre-hospital EMS experience. - Direct experience with program development in proficiency-based educational design.

Skills

- Proficiency in EMS education and training. - Excellent organizational and supervisory skills. - Ability to manage strong and differing opinions tactfully.

Pay

Effective July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 25 will be $31.54 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $49.45 per hour.

Schedule

Duties involve considerable travel and may require work outside of regular hours.
