Emergency Medical Services Director
Wilkes County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Emergency Medical Services Director to perform supervisory, administrative, and technical work directing the operations of the emergency medical service functions of Wilkes County.
About the role
An employee in this class coordinates and manages all aspects of EMS services for Wilkes County. Develops and monitors adherence to medical protocols. Supervises all EMS personnel; duties include interviewing, hiring, scheduling, conducting performance evaluations, and carrying out disciplinary actions. Responsible for annual EMS budget including planning and oversight of needs assessments, capital equipment, supplies, salaries, and grant funding. Position also serves as EMS System Coordinator for the Wilkes County System Plan. Work requires on-call and call-back response. Reports to the County Manager.
Requirements
- Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in emergency medical services or related field and emergency services experience including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current North Carolina EMT-Paramedic credentials and associated specialized certifications.
- ICS certifications.
- Employee must be a current resident or willing to relocate to Wilkes County.
