About the Role
The emergency medical dispatcher will serve within UK Emergency Services’ dispatch, managing and directing emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching UK ambulances, scheduling ambulance transports, and assisting in air traffic control for helicopters landing at the UK Medical Center. They will also handle call intake for all incoming EMS units and relay pertinent information to the appropriate party within the hospital.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of related experience
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
- Dispatching certification from The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International within a year of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of related experience
- Experience in air traffic control operations
- Experience within a large healthcare organization
- At least 1 year of Public Safety/911 dispatch experience and/or dispatch certification
Skills & Knowledge
- Basic medical terminology
- Computer skills
Physical Requirements
- Regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods
- Performing tasks with repetitive motions (e.g., typing)
- Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds
Pay
$19.50–27.31/hour
Schedule
- Full-time, three 12-hour shifts per week (1745 – 0615)
- Required to work some weekends and holidays
