Responsibilities
- Evaluate a patient's condition on the telephone and prioritize the call using industry standard protocols.
- Follow professional radio communications techniques.
- Consistently receives emergency calls and enters them into the CAD system within 60 seconds, 90% of the time.
- Consistently achieves alert times within 30 seconds of call received time, 90% of the time.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all communications equipment to ensure intelligent reporting of equipment failures.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply the System Status Plan (SSP) to daily operations.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with residents, public officials, governmental entities, and political leaders when necessary.
- Able to direct resources during major/mass casualty incidents.
- Complies with all company policy, procedures, or practices.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
- Current EMR, EMT or Paramedic certification and meet other company standards depending on classification level.
- EMD certification preferred - EMSA can help obtain.
- Preferred - minimum of one (1) year experience in the field as an EMT or Paramedic, or as a dispatcher for fire, law enforcement or other EMS agency.
- Must be able to meet the requirements of EMR, EMT-Basic/Advanced, or Paramedic job description depending on current certification level as recognized by EMSA.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen to the satisfaction of the organization.
Qualifications
- Keys at least 30 words per minute.
- Able to communicate with the public via telephone in a professional and courteous manner.
- Willingness and ability to follow directions.
- Carry out instructions while working independently.
