Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive communication strategies and public outreach initiatives for the Office of Emergency Management.
- Serve as a point of contact for media relations, community engagement, and crisis communication, ensuring effective dissemination of critical information to the public.
- Work schedule is subject to a 12-hour shift during a disaster or emergency operations center activation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with major course work in journalism, communications, emergency management, public relations, or other related field and one year of experience in community engagement, community development, community partnerships, and/or emergency management; or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
- Must possess a clear criminal history.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri drivers license.
- Available to work a 12-hour shift during a disaster or emergency operations center activation.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree with relevant coursework and one year of experience in emergency management or related fields.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in emergency management, public administration, or related field; FEMA Public Information Officer certifications; experience in government or non-profit communications; and bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).
Pay
Hourly Salary Range: $24.41 - $25.15 per hour
Schedule
Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
