Position Summary
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Provides direct and indirect patient care, assisting nursing and physician staff with patient care procedures.
- Inventories and restocks emergency department equipment.
- Collections and transports specimens such as urine, blood, and cultures.
- Places patients on monitors, provides wound care, assists with orthopedic procedures and other emergency room procedures as requested.
- Reports and records observations in the patient medical record.
- Reports patient care needs and changes in condition to the nursing staff.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six months patient care experience in a health care delivery setting OR completion of the US Armed Services medic program.
- Certification as an emergency medical technician (EMT), paramedic, medical assistant (MA), or certified nursing assistant (CNA) OR currently enrolled Nursing student who has completed their first Med/Surg rotation
- BLS certification.
- PREFERRED: ACLS certification
- Previous experience working in an Emergency Department
