Emergency Department Tech - University Hospital
90% FTE, day/evening shifts of 8 or 12 hours between 7:00 am – 7:00 pm, with an every-other-weekend rotation. Hours may vary based on departmental needs.
About the role
Join a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma Center and Wisconsin’s #1 hospital as an Emergency Department (ED) Technician. You’ll provide compassionate care, be one of the first points of contact for patients, assist with blood draws, IVs, and catheters, and work with state-of-the-art equipment. You’ll communicate directly with providers, nurses, patients, families, and caregivers, document care in the Electronic Medical Record, respond to codes, and act as an observer for behavioral health complaints.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care to patients in the Emergency Room.
- Assist with taking blood samples, starting IVs, and placing catheters.
- Communicate with providers, nurses, patients, families, and other caregivers regarding patient care.
- Record patient information in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Respond to pages and codes as directed.
- Act as an observer for behavioral health complaints.
Requirements
- Completion of EMT-Basic program (Required).
- Completion of AEMT or Paramedic program (Preferred).
- EMT-Basic license or National Registry of EMT certification (Required).
- CPR/BLS certification (Required).
- National Registry or Wisconsin Advanced Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic license (Preferred).
- ACLS and PALS certification (Preferred).
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in Emergency Departments, hospitals, or other healthcare settings, including EMS (Preferred).
