Emergency Department PA

Position Details

• 19 bed Emergency Department, Level II Trauma Center, main regional referral center for the Upper Peninsula.
• 12 hour Emergency Department shifts, 9 am to 9 pm
• 10-11 shifts per month: benefitted position
• Rotating weekend and holiday schedule.
• Approximately 1.6 patients per hour average
• PA works in main ER department, no dedicated fast tract/express care
• Covers Provider in Triage role when volume demands
• Singles PA coverage working with 1-2 board certified Emergency Medicine Physicians in the department.
• 12 hours of PA coverage daily, 34 hours of physician coverage
• Conglomerate and supportive practice environment, supportive supervising physicians
• Cerner EMR system in the Emergency Department and hospital
• Full lab and radiographic support including US, CT, MRI capability

Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistance
• Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan
• State of Michigan controlled substance license required
• Current DEA registration required
• AHA approved BLS, ACLS and ATLS

The Preferred Candidate

• Experience as a physician assistant in an emergency department setting that includes adults and children
• Certainty in performing standard emergency department procedures
