Emergency Coordinator I - Full Time

Position Overview

Western State Hospital, part of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), seeks a full-time Emergency Coordinator to serve as a communication center for the hospital, providing customer service and service recovery, managing access control, and assisting with patient admissions and discharges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide positive customer service and service recovery interactions for the hospital, disseminating routine and emergency incident information, and coordinating operations.
  • Communicate via phone, two-way radio, overhead pages, email, fax, and pagers to assist in routine and emergency situations.
  • Manage access control for staff, visitors, and clients.
  • Administer and maintain records for the Information Center.

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service or help desk capacity
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Bilingual in English and another language
  • Certification in MS Office or other relevant software
  • Higher education in a customer service or healthcare-related field preferred

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Highly desirable to have higher education in a customer service or healthcare-related field
