Emergency Communications Officer (911 Dispatcher)
About the role
The West Chester Township Emergency Communications Department is seeking a Communications Officer (Dispatcher) to join their team. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to provide information and assistance to colleagues and the public.
Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Dispatch Police, Fire, and EMS using computer aided dispatch technology
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends
- Handle stressful, demanding, and fast-paced situations involving life and death scenarios
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in Communications/911 dispatch preferred
Qualifications
Effective 10/1/2026, the pay rate for this position is $28.20 per hour. Experience may be considered for rate adjustments.

Applications are being reviewed starting September 9, 2026. Pre-interview testing will take place from September 10-14, 2026. Interviews are scheduled to begin the week of September 21, 2026. Complete applications will be emailed on September 10, 2026, to complete an online assessment. Those who complete and successfully pass the assessment will be considered for an interview. The selection process includes: pre-interview testing, panel interview, polygraph, background check, and drug screen.
